Meet your coach

Kaitryn Pellani-Pitcairn

Katy is the owner of Crossfit Huntingdon Valley since 2013 and specializes in postpartum and pregnancy strength and conditioning. A dedicated mom who is passionate about nutritional quality, quantity, and timing, Katy has cooked her way through countless Paleo cookbooks in pursuit of feeding her children nourishing foods. Katy is passionate about helping guide women through the motherhood transition through BIRTHFIT’s four pillars.

As an athlete, Katy has completed four full marathons and a Half Ironman triathlon—and even got engaged while running the Philadelphia Marathon when her now-husband Bryan proposed at the finish line. She started CrossFit after having kids. "I found Powerlifting through Crossfit and never looked back," she says. "I love to support (mostly) women and help them gain confidence that carries over to their personal lives."

When not coaching in the gym, Katy is a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist Assistant at Action Physical Therapy.

WHAT IS BIRTHFIT?

BIRTHFIT is a movement. It’s about expecting and postpartum moms taking charge of their bodies and their decisions, and supporting one another’s journeys—together and apart.

BIRTHFIT is an approach to birth. We challenge the status quo and ask the questions no one else asks. We read, research, experiment, and consolidate all the common sense, time-honored wisdom, and recent studies we can find and present that information to you through various education models. Our pillars are fitness, nutrition, mindset, and connection. We unconditionally support YOU—the birth mom & birth partner—to make the best decision for you and Baby.

BIRTHFIT is a state of readiness. Childbirth is perhaps the most physical, mental, and spiritual experience of a woman’s life. We want you to be ready in body, mind, and spirit for the experience of birth and the lifelong journey that follows.

BIRTHFIT is your support team. We are a team of practitioners, educators, chiropractors, coaches, nutritionists, fellow mamas, men, and women who are involved in our local communities and we are all rooting for YOU.

 

The four pillars of BIRTHFIT are

FITNESS

To functionally train throughout the Motherhood Transition in all planes of motion to develop competencies and physical skills as well as enhance the main metabolic pathways. 

MINDSET

To create space between a stimulus and a response, to embrace a growth perspective, and create action around values in order to make decisions from a place of love rather than fear.

NUTRITION

To cultivate a relationship with food that is rich in color and nutrients from a wide variety of animals, fish, plants, fruits, fats, and starchy tubers, while nourishing the body through the different rhythms of life and the female cycle.

CONNECTION

To open pathways from the cellular to the metaphysical level wherein a human can experience and express optimal health in body, mind, and soul.
